TRANSCRANIAL MAGNETIC STIMULATION (TMS)
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or “TMS”, is a cutting-edge, noninvasive treatment that uses repetitive magnetic pulses to stimulate neurons in the brain. TMS is approved by the FDA and recommended by the American Psychiatric Association for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
TMS Therapy is generally more effective than medication and for this reason is often used for treatment resistant depression. Additionally, TMS has fewer side effects than most medications. A single course of treatment may help individuals stay depression-free for years.

After TMS, people typically report less anxiety and clearer thinking, with better memory and concentration. Request an appointment below to see if TMS is right for you or someone you love.
What happens in TMS? During each 3.5 to 19-minute treatment, depending on the treatment protocol selected by your clinician, you’ll sit in a chair with the magnet over your head. You may feel some muscle tension or tingling near the magnet, but it is not painful. People are fully awake and alert during treatment and are able to walk, talk, and drive afterwards. TMS only affects a small part of the brain and doesn’t require people to be unconscious. Unlike ECT, it does not use electricity, does not work by causing seizures, and does not impair memory.
We use Magstim’s Horizon Inspire TMS system, which is FDA-cleared for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder and OCD.
